COVID 19 NEW GUIDELINES

New Environment Warden for the Parish

Graham Cockayne

Stainland Park Keeper Reginald Richards who retired in 1968

At the beginning of December we were very pleased to welcome Graham Cockayne on to the Parish Council team as our Environment Warden.

Graham has been employed by the Parish Council specifically to look after our area. He will be out and about on a weekly basis to keep on top of gardening, litter picking and small maintenance jobs.

Although this is a new post for our Parish, the position reflects the traditional role of a ‘Parish Lengthsman’ who would work the length of a parish and some residents may even recall that Stainland once had its very own Park Keeper to keep things tidy.

Times have changed since then and there is plenty of catching up to do. It’s hoped that this dedicated role will soon produce visible improvements and bring some much-needed care and attention to our streets and green spaces.

We wish Graham all the best in his new role and look forward to him becoming a friendly and familiar figure to residents and a real asset to our community.

The Future of Stainland Library – let us know your views

You may have already received a newsletter from the Parish Council or been otherwise informed that Calderdale Council have closed Stainland Library and asking you for your views and support for keeping the building as a community asset instead of its sale to private investors. To collect the views of parishioners, we have developed a simple survey which we’d like you to complete as, if we are to convince Calderdale Council that we have plans for the use of the building, we need evidence of local support.

Please complete this short survey by clicking on this link: https://forms.office.com/r/u1D4vB1rph

The deadline for responses to the survey is 19th May.  Please ensure you have completed and submitted your answers to the survey by then.

At the end of the survey, you will be asked if you would like to provide contact details so that we can keep you in touch with developments. You do not have to do so but, if you do, we will hold this information securely and only use it for that purpose. We will not disclose this information to persons not associated with the Parish Council without your permission and you can withdraw this consent at any time buy contacting the Parish Clerk.

Thank you!

Parish walks

Many of us will have become more familiar with the local footpath network over recent months. Do you have a favourite or newly discovered walking route around Stainland, Holywell Green, Sowood, Outlane or Jagger Green which you would like to share? If so please send details of the route to hello@stainlanddistrictparishcouncil.org and we will publish on the Parish Council’s website.
